THE RETREAT
WHAT IS THIS?
The Wild Expanse is a four day immersive expressive arts therapy retreat that centers healing, wellness, and connection to the authentic self through music, art, movement, and mindfulness experiences, guided by board-certified expressive therapists. We believe every person is a creative being with the ability to connect to their deepest experiences through art, music, and movement. The retreat invites participants to explore their sense of self through guided creative experiences in order to find deeper meaning, connect to inner wisdom, move more freely, and feel more connected to their authentic selves.
WHAT IS EXPRESSIVE THERAPY?
Expressive therapy is an umbrella term for multiple creative arts modalities such as music, art, dance, drama, and narrative therapies. Whatever creative modality we are working in, the emphasis is on self-discovery and meaning making through the creative process. You do not need to be an artist or musician to benefit from creative arts. Scribble art can be our frustrations and anger, our movement might just be the movement of deep breathing for a moment, while drumming might transform from uncertainty to unbridled joy. Whatever the modality, it's not about what it looks like, it's about what it feels like.
WHO IS IT FOR?
All adults open to exploring creative arts therapy are welcome at the retreat. We are open and affirming, anti-racist, and committed to social justice. Accommodations are made for anyone in need; please reach out about any concerns or accommodation requirements.

WHY ARE WE DOING CREATIVE ARTS IN THE WOODS?

Connecting to our creative nature in nature is an invitation to step out of our tech-filled day to day and allow ourselves to be reminded of and resonate with the planet we reside on. Staying close to the outdoors encourages us to reconnect with our child-like wonder and freedom, allowing ourselves to play and explore with less judgment and rigidity.
